As there has been a final decision on what is happening with DKP I can start to rebuild the database to account for the changes.

Once these modifications are completed the DKP website will be back online, there will be a change to the bookmark to reflect the funky new hosting.

After many ideas and discussion going back and forth between the officers the final decision has been made.

I would like to point out at this time that for those disgruntled players who feel like they are being left out. Any system we use will have its ups and downs, it is very difficult to come up with a system that will suit everyone individually, so the best we can do is something that fits somewhere in the middle.

The thing to remember is DKP is like a currency. We earn it for the work we do (lets call it that for a moment). So if someone does more work then someone else they are obviously going to be on a higher wage then someone whom can only work part time. We can not pay the full time worker less because the worker on part time cant earn the same hours. So if someone has DKP from Naxx and used it in Uldaur then that is up to them, they have earned those points to use in anyway they like. It is like saying to someone who saved for a trip OS that they can not spend their saved cash in another country…that is pretty ridiculous and no one would go for that sort of dictatorship.

So what we shall do is:

Set those in the red back to 0

Half the DKP earned in Naxx compared with that in Uldaur, we will do the same again when we start new content…

And we will inflate the item prices in Uldaur to 20, this will be done again when we start new content.

hardly a change but I really dont care much tbh… lets lay it at rest here.
I hope this is satisfactory =) Itty

From the 1st of July, 2009, we will be changing the DKP system. We shall be changing over to Zero sum.

The reason for this change is that over is that in the last few months we have noticed that many raiders accumulate a lot of DKP and this causes inflation which in turn unbalances the system. Because we are trying to be as fair as possible to all those that raid including those with low DKP, we want to make sure that the system of DKP works for us.

We did think about capping the DKP at 100, but this would not work for those that give a lot of their time to the raids helping out when either people don't turn up or in leading. Hence the next best option was to use a different DKP.

This wont mean much for those that are not raiding yet but please take the time to read up on it so you understand what is going on.

Here are some Links to look at:

wowwiki - Zero sum

What is DKP?

More on Zero sum

PS: Please note the DKP site is down at the moment.

Thanks Itty

Wikidot - email notifications

From the Wikidot front page:

Today we are introducing a new, highly requested feature at Wikidot: email notifications (aka watching), so that you can follow (watch) activity at Wikidot by receiving emails directly into your Inbox.

The feature is really great (we had it enabled for a few testing accounts) and allows you to be instantly notified about page edits, forum discussions, page comments etc. for pages, categories or whole sites.

Obviously email notifications solve an important problem of users not being aware of what is going on in their sites. We have seen many contributions to both public and private wikis left unnoticed by other members. Although we do provide full activity stream by RSS already, sadly RSS is still not common and easy enough to use for many people.

Introducing the "watching" feature is a very important and large task for us, but even in the pre-launch period this feature alone enormously improved our online activity at our own wikis. Hopefully this will also work for many other users.

The feature is explained in more detais in our FAQ section.

Of course if you do not wish to receive emails from Wikidot, there is a very quick way to disable them by following a special link in any of such emails.

Michał Frąckowiak @ Wikidot Inc.

Just a quick note on the raids that will be starting on 14th January.

We are going to be starting with Naxx 25 at 20:30 pm. If you are interested in raiding can you please contact your CL and he/ she will advise you further.

If you are late or just don't turn up for these runs when you have been signed in and accepted, without prior or plenty of notice, you will be set on the reserve list until further notice.

Secondly due to people whom have been raiding already and have got some gear from these raids, we will be starting DKP in one months time so to let people who haven't gotten any gear yet to catch up.

We ask therefore that if you are rolling on gear that it will be one item per run (unless ofc no one else wants it) if you win something, so others have a chance also to get some upgrades.

The reason we do this, is to keep inflation of DKP down when we start using it again.

Thank you Itty xx

UNITY is moving into its 3rd year…OMG I can't believe I have gamed with so many of you for so long =) And here we are about to launch into yet another new adventure in WoW. Wonder how many of us will be around at the end of next year =P

I have started making some changes on our site to prepare for the launch and our newly reached levels. The DKP site is down and will remain so until we have enough people to start raiding again in the expansion. We will also move on to use a new system of DKP. This will be Zero Sum you can read more info on that here.

Until then we will be rolling the old fashioned way on Raid Loot.

For those of you that are worried that there won't be any more raids in the next few months, I shall clear that up for you now. As long as we have the right classes to raid with and people are willing, we can continue to do some raids after the expansion.

I have also advised the bank officers to sell what they can from the bank…So now is the time to ask for things if you need them before they disappear into the AH.

Last but not least and probably most interesting, is that you can now log in the WoW EU Armoury and update the in game Guild Calendar via the web. You use your own account log in details to do so…if you log in it will tell you at the top of the page what invitations you have. So for those that would like to use this system please go and try it =)

Anyway that is pretty much it for the time being, good luck on Thursday if you have pre-ordered or are standing in a queue at midnight on Wednesday for your copy. And most of all have fun. =)

PlayKon reorts:

All my bets are lost. I was dead-sure that WotLK would only be released in 2009, but fortunately, it seems that me and my fellow horde of skeptics (no pun intended) were wrong. If you visit the WoW website right now, odds are you'll be greeted with a page announcing the release date for the World of Warcraft: Wrath of the Lich King expansion - "In Stores 11.13.08". That's like… really bloody soon! Better get your pre-orders sorted out, fast.

Read the full article here and Wired's report here

Raid Sheduler and Class Rotations Table

Trying to get it all working and running a bit smoother for you all.

You have probably seen the in game mail that has been sent to you, about the Raid Scheduler. Another addition to the web site is a separate table for Class Rotations. The idea of these new features is that things will start to operate and run a bit smoother and give people a clear look at the raiding schedule in the future.

However the Class rotations table has not yet been filled in, as rotations at the moment are rather pointless due to the summer holidays. We have been having a lot of trouble filling the raids for the 25 man because of that.
I have to make up for this by easing the the Rotations (as I never know whom will be available for a raid at the moment) and set up a few weekly 10 man runs instead. Holding on to the 25 man Sunday run in hope that we may fill it.

I would also like to give a reminder of the Raid Add Ons and keeping them up to date. I have noticed lately that a lot of you come to raids, without having the right add-ons installed or they are out of date. So please there is all the information you need along with links on site here so there no excuse not to have the right add ons up and running before the raid starts. These add ons are necessary for raiding with UNITY, and by not being organised before the raid holds everything and everyone up.

Another Handy application is WowMatrix for keeping Add-ons up to date.

SPOnG Reports:

Blizzard has launched a 'Recruit-A-Friend' campaign for World of Warcraft, offering up a free exclusive mount and other goodies for those who participate.

To get at the good stuff you have to stick the details of your mate in the recruit-a-friend page over at the official WoW site and the ball will start doing its rolling thing. If your friend opts to upgrade from the ten day free trial to a retail copy and pays for 60 days of play then you get the mount. The mount in question is called the Zhevra (it's a mish-mash of zebra and unicorn) and is only available to those who participate in the scheme.

DigitalTrends reports:

Blizzard makes reasonable efforts to make sure World of Warcraft accounts are secure, but in a world of keyloggers, network sniffers, Trojan horses, and plain-old bad passwords, it's not exactly uncommon for a WOW player to have his or her account accessed without permission, then find that everything their in-world character had that was remotely sellable was…gone.

To help combat the problem, Blizzard has announced it plans to offer a Blizzard Authenticator token for World of Warcraft accounts: the token will generate a short-term six-digit security code whenever a user presses a button. The user must then use that code along with their normal account name and password in order to log into the account. The token doesn't replace the security questions Blizzard associates with each account, but helps ensure that only users who physically have the correct token can access an account.
