I often hear new members and some not so new members complaining that they don’t get any help in the game or get invited to raids. You may also see some players who get a lot of help and wonder why you don’t get any help or invites.
What all players need to realise is that what goes around, comes around.
In other words, if you are always helping others, be it helping on quests, joining for a dungeon (even though you don’t really want to go), crafting something or just answering questions eventually you will find that people will always want to help you.
So I’ve put together a guide to give someone who wants to get on in UNITY.
1. Check out the website.
Congratulations! If you’re reading this then you’re obviously doing tip no.1. However, you really need to check out the website and forums on a daily basis. Even better, try contributing to the forums, it’ll get you noticed.
2. When a member asks for help in guild chat, jump at the chance to assist them. Even if it means dropping what you’re doing to rush to their aid. They will remember you for this and that will improve your chances of getting on in the guild.
3. Be polite to fellow members at all times. We all like to make fun of other people but if you do it to someone who hardly knows you, they might be offended. Get to know Stelli first before calling him a sheep shagger. Mages have feelings too.
4. Make sure that your alts have a note on them telling everyone that they’re yours. Someone might be looking for you to invite you to a raid.
5. When a member helps you with something whether it’s a quest, dungeon or crafting something for you, make sure you thank them. If you don’t it could be the last time they help you and word gets around about ungrateful players.
6. Use your profession to help others. There is only so much money you need in this game, so where possible craft things for fellow guildies for free.
7. Don’t ask for help all the time, for example spamming for boosts. You can’t learn to play your class properly if you’re getting boosted all the time.
8. Go to all the dungeons as much as possible. You may think you can play your character, but we are all still learning. If you’re regarded as a good player of your class you will get lots of invites to raids. A good player has at least revered status, if not exalted with all the main factions. You need to run all the instances a lot to gain this reputation. Remember, if you don’t think you or your gear is good enough for Heroics, you aren’t ready for Karazhan.
9. When you sign up on GEM for an instance like Karazhan, don’t assume that just because your name is on the list that you’re going. Signing up on GEM just shows that you’re interested. Apart from healers and tanks we have too many of the other classes and therefore we need to rotate everyone. Please be patient, the officers do try to make sure that everyone who wants to go, goes sometime. In the meantime, run those other instances and improve your gear.
10. Don’t follow Niflodia, she has no idea where she’s going.
If I cast Misdirect on you, it’s because I like you! Honestly!
