Issue: Unity is getting larger and it’s getting a bit confusing for all, with existing members alts and genuine new members.
New Recruits.
Like all new recruits you don’t really know who is who, whose alt is who. Which officer is on what alt etc…. Class leader appears to be offline, your too shy to ask questions or raid the bank or whom to go too, to raise the question. etc…
You hesitate because you want to be correctly reviewed and evaluated by others around you. Its frustrating being new!
Other side of the coin.
The established members keep a relative distance and not really encouraged to help new members out with raids, quests and equipment etc…They prefer to let the new recruits to go into a settling in period first.
Possible Managed Solution.
What might be suggested or proposed is that after the applications of new recruits are approved by class leaders THEN they are then INVITED into the guild at a CERTAIN TIME of the week. This helps and assists the transformation of newly recruited members by;
(1) they might not remember everyone in the guild but they will remember those whose joined with them.
(2) “Were in the same boat” attitude helps that there first questions are amongst each other.
(3) Likely that they will form their own informal group for information, quests and helping each other.
(4) Questions most likely to be more pertinently addressed to experienced members after having passed through an initial consultation with other new recruits. “We don’t know the answer so go ahead and ask some one” etc…
(5) Makes joining UNITY socially fun and more enjoyable for their own game experience.
For us most experienced members,
(a) were not having to put up with the same individual questions.
(b) Saves members more time not to have to deal with unnecessary issues.
(c) We can choose to be online at the time so we know what’s what, whose new Alt’s etc..
Overall I think this will also create a very good first impression for UNITY and send out a positive underlying message to all new recruits if we have organised the time of week to join for example Tuesday evenings 6-8pm and Saturdays 4-6pm.
It would instantly set us apart from all the other guilds and give a good impression and add to the good reputation of what a great guild UNITY is.
Comments and questions from the floor please?
“Corr blimey we will be having “cocktail evenings” next….
