Group Slams 'World of Warcraft' Copyright Suit

PC Magazine reports:

It might seem counterproductive to leave a computer game unattended and allow an automated "bot" to play the game for you, but many World of Warcraft (WoW) enthusiasts have been using an authorized tool known as the Glider to stay connected to the game 24-7.

WoW producer Blizzard Entertainment and Vivendi Games, Inc. sued Glider creator Michael Donnelly and MDY Industries in February for intellectual property violations, but D.C.-based interest group Public Knowledge said Monday that Blizzard has no grounds on which to sue Donnelly for copyright violations.
