hey there ppl
ok i have decided to put whats in my head down on the site (no not the dirty stuff there is not enought room)
and it's about the DKP we are still having trouble with it ppl not having enough points to be able to win anything

and to be honest i can see why if you look at the UNITY DKP site http://www.freedkphost.com/dkp/unity

and see aht % ppl are going to raid you can see why some ppl have so much more dkp than others now i'm useing my self as a example because it'a easy lol

i work mon-fri but i work nights so i can go to any raids duering the weekdays so loose what 5 instances i cant go to so thats 5 times i miss out on dkp because i'm working now before ppl say anything i know these is nothing that can be done about this it's my job so hey but i can never catch up to anyone even if i go to every weekend raid i can for example Stelli (sorry stelli) he is able to raid all week and weekends if free so his raid % for the last 30 days is 93% so he has gone to 93% of the raids in the last 30 days where logies is only 60% but the problem i have is even if i go to every raid on sat and sun i will never catch up as there is no Cap so stelli DKP will just keep goin up higher and higher but faster than mine

now what i'm suggesting is to have a DKP cap make it 200 Dkp points if you need just make one because in 5-6 months time your have ppl with 700-800 dkp points and ppl that have odd jobs or famileys or yes girlfriends that dont understnd the importance of wow will be sitting there with 150 DKP with no hope to be able to possible win anything

now this is just me having a whine but i really would like ppl to coment about it and pls dont just have a go at least leave some helpfull info i know also there will be ppl against it lol the ppl with very high DKP who raid everyday

but pls comment and leave helpfull info

as i'm not the only person itty has noticed it as she is spending more time looking at headgehogs in the garden (dam Vermin)
just think if things pop up in your life as things normaly do are you going to spend the next 4-5 month trying to get back to the top just because you had to spend less time on wow
this is a game and ppl do have things happen in the real world so just think about it pls

Hi Logie,

I sympathize with your frustration at feeling you're not going to win anything as you will always lack enough DKP. However, we can't put a cap on DKP.

As mentioned before, if we put a cap on DKP, there will come a point when most people will have the limit, (as you suggest 200 points). If for example there are ten people with 200 points and they all want to roll for an item then we'd be back at the same place we were before DKP, they would literally just have to roll for the item.

I don't expect to win anything in the near future, tbh I do enough dps and most of my gear is from badges. Alot of the badge reward stuff is as good or better than T5.

I play because I like the banter and the success.

WotLK is due to be released in November. DKP I presume will be reset then and we will all enjoy leveling up our toons together again.

I am going to add here as an example of how it can work…Enook last night asked me if there was any point for him to roll on items as he had no DKP…I said to him by all means roll, because if there are people who do not need it it will be up for grabs so show your interest. He did this and won twice on 2 bids. So having no DKP is not the end of the world you are still in there with a chance. There are several more examples of this with other members that thought they had no chance of getting anything, so please be patient turn up for raids you can do, and you may be surprised at what is actually available for you. It's a fair point and there is no guarantee that the people above you in dkp will actually be there that night (plus they is a good chance they already have the drop).

As for the point on Capping, Olly rightly says we would be back to rolling at some point however that isn't really an issue. When people get to the Cap their dkp gained per Raid could drop e.g. SSC would go from 9 to 3, Mags 5 to 2 etc.

The issue is the EQdkp system we use, can it cope with something as complex as this? Can it actually cope with having a maximum number of 200 or would it keep increasing it regardless? I am pretty sure Oak has said this sort of thing would need manual intervention and therefore be a nightmare to maintain.
Maybe there is a way to tweak it or perhaps instead there is a better package out there for us for next time (expansion)?

I agree Lucklas, I think we should look at zeroDKP…it would suit us better and it has less chance of getting out of control. It is based on an item costing x amount of points to bid on…the winner that receives it looses that amount of his DKP points which then in turn gets divided down the rest of the raid. It is a system that is being commonly used now as it decreases the chance of inflation. this was actually the one i was going for when we were discussing it. Here is a link Zero-sum-DKP

I understand where your coming from Logie but we do need to keep dkp to keep those people who do raid regularly in the guild so they get a chance of looting. But the Zero sum dkp suggestion looks to be quite good and i think a lot of big guilds use it (or have done in the past).

There does seem to be a lot of complaints over dkp atm, purely it seems because people like Stelli and Mongo have such huge amounts and people are worried that there not gonna be able to roll on anything so maybe another change is needed although I'd hate to put any more work on Itty as she already does so much for us. =P

thank you all so very much for your imputs i knew putting a cap on DKP was a very high bar to cross and i'm glad ppl have replyed to my chat and in a very helpfull and constructive way thank you all i hope by me bringing up with topic it might help the guild out in some way shape of form as i know there are a few ppl who's minds it's on so thank you again for helping all of you

There are not a lot of option with DKP, without it people who raid a lot lose out a lot to random rolls with DKP those who can't raid a lot lose out to those who can.

I will say there are things that can be done to reduce the effects of DKP inflation but there not easy to automate with the eqDKP unless we rewrite a large amount of the backend scripts which is not an easy job.

I think the problem with inflation would still be there with a zero-sum-dkp system from the details I've seen. Relational DKP reduces the effects of massive DKP varience a little, but only a little.

In all there is no perfect system, someone will always be left out and to paraphase one of the longest death scenes in sci-fi movies "The needs of the many out weigh the needs of the few". At the moment eqDKP fills the hole we had, it has many gaps around the edges and things still disappear down those gaps but in all we catch most things.

With the expansion around the corner the DKP issue will go away for awhile as we see how fast we can get to 80. In that time perhaps a few of us can work on something that will be slightly more perfect, plug a few of the remaining holes or at least shrink them a little :)

DKP isnt perfect.

Moreso i hate DPK, i hate that ppl let items be nuked, because the upgrade it not big enough to waste point on. I hate to see ppl getting demorolized, cause they are way behind on DPK points….

However in the previous system, i hated it when i was outrolled by someone who came with us for the first time… I hated seeing items go to some1 who didnt rly needed it, y ppl did roll for little upgrades too…. I hated to see ppl get demorolized cause for the 15th time in a row, they didnt get their t4 helmet (itty ea)

Anyway the point im trying to make DKP isnt perfect, nor was the rolling system we had…

I agree with oak, lets use the time we got right after the expansion comes out to get some thing improved. DKP CAP my well be a good addition however… whats the point when everybody has reached their DKP cap? (or maybe should get better raidleaders, that actually delivers u more loot to roll on)
