Newsletter 2008 Spring

Hello again UNITY,

Nearly another year down the track in a few weeks UNITY will be 2 years old (24 April 2008) and I can proudly say we are still one of the most stable and biggest Guilds on the server. We may not be the most organised or the biggest raiding Guild but we sure have fun wiping and learning the UNITY way. It is good to see that we still have some of our original members from the start and some of our most loved returned and of course the new faces in UNITY.

This past month however has seen the biggest changes of all take place in the Guild.

Before I go into that I would like to firstly thank Ymir for doing such a great job looking after things while I had a needed break from it all, and also for setting into motion a few things that needed to be addressed in the Guild for quite some time.

You are all aware of is the introduction of DKP. For most of you this will be a totally new thing and unfamiliar way of raiding.

A lot of you may be worried that the face of the Guild will change or that DKP will have an effect on you if you can’t raid much. This may be true… it may indeed have some effect on the Guild. None of us are certain at this stage what this effect will be, or if it will be for better or worse.

What I do know is that the majority of you have chosen to try this out. So we shall give it our best shot in the UNITY way, and see where it leads us.

Looking forwards to the progress ahead and trying out new places for the guild.

So Happy Birthday U N I T Y , and happy gaming everyone =) Itty

The UNITY Forum - Have your say!

The UNITY Forum is the platform for the whole Guild to participate in discussions or to raise points of their own to be discussed. The UNITY Forum is a hive of activity as everyone voices their thoughts on the possibility of changes to the way the Guild organises raids, undertakes new areas of the game or even to share the latest gossip.

To make yourself heard in these important discussions, click on some of the hottest topics listed below. As well as that, some of our more experienced members have started publishing class guides which you may find useful. Check the mage class forums for example, and be sure to post your own guides too!

Baa

Hello all. Stelli here back from my recent adventures in sheepland….oops ! I mean Azeroth.
Suitable sheep targets are still proving difficult to find but on the plus side this has meant no visits from those awful protectorate people :-)

So ! what have I been up to ? Well all sorts really, I have been helping that delightfully attractive Gnome, Flameshield and more recently, his successor, the slightly more rugged Lithine. Us Mages are lucky with our class leaders and all the work they do but I do try to help where I can. Small things, like collecting stats and advice on sheeping (about the only mage ability I have any real knowledge about !).

I have visited the new area (Sunscorch or something) and obviously have died many times. It was here that I learned (from that very saucy Serda mmmh….) that us mages are considered very expendable and our role is to die. I have to say this was quite difficult to take at first but after much sulking and crying I have now come to terms with it. My technique is to go in naked to reduce repair bills. This meant i have now discovered a wonderful sense of freedom ! Some of the party members do seem a little worried by my nakedness but I think if I have a good wash some of the sores and the smell should disappear. :-)

Anyway, must go. Mobs to sheep and a bath tub to find. See you all soon.

Holyday snaps

Cronoz was sitting on his (Holy) behind thinking what to do next in game. This is the problem with being a Holy Priest and deciding who lives and who dies in Raids and Instances. It can be hard looking after the suicidal Mages (bless them) or the over-eager, under-specced others that go charging ahead without a care in the World (of Warcraft). So he took a well needed break and made his way to Southshore where the fishing is good and the air is clean and the beaches are not too crowded (apart from a few Murlocs).

It was around this time that Cronol was wandering aimlessly around the world and as a Paladin needed some action (speak to HolyJoe for specifics on how much action a Pally really needs). After hearing about how much better a Pally is at tanking, healing, Instances, eating, drinking and farting, it was time to put it all in to practice.

It was all true, a Pally is easy as you can wear mail items, kit yourself up to gills in killing equipment and just bubble and run if you cause too much trouble. However, that said, you also become a little too cocky. You feel you can take on 4/5/6 at a time, or even the entire world… bring it on… although this also means you spend a little time walking back to your body when the others finally do get the better of you (that damn bubble should last longer).

It was during this very well practiced bubble and run technique that Cronol ran in to Cronoz on the beach in Southshore. It was time that Cronoz realised that the holiday had come to an end and he needed to get back to Outlands and force himself upon people (to get invited back in to the Raids and Instances you understand).

Now you will see both the Pally and the Priest in-game, but the art is seeing them both online together. Both of which are always up for some fun , so please start planning the 40-man Raid on Hogger and lets get some decent pics of the Guild in action (ooh err). As a result, Cronoz will promise not to bore everyone with his holiday snaps of Southshore ;-)
